Deadline Approaching! Small Group: The Universal Christ: How A Forgotten Reality Can Change Everything We See, Hope For, and Believe
“What if every human being is anointed, Messiahed, Christ? What if the most fundamental aspect of our identity is that we are each anointed and appointed by The Holy One, by Spirit—to preach good news to the poor, liberty to the captive, and sight to the blind? What if we take seriously being the body of the Christ—that we are the hands, feet, and heartbeat of the Living God? What if we are Word made flesh, Love made flesh, Light made flesh?” —Jacqui Lewis, Sr. Minister, Collegiate Church, NYC
The UCC Missoula Contemplative group invites you into a small group to explore these “what ifs” and delve into Richard Rohr’s transformative view of Jesus as Christ. We’ll read the book, explore contemplative practices, growing in presence to one another and to the world.
The group will meet on Tuesday evenings, in two four-week periods: October 26-November 16, take a break for Advent, and then return to meet again for 4 (four) weeks in January. Based on the current levels of the pandemic, we will probably need to meet over Zoom initially.
Please sign up here by October 18 so books are available to read the first chapters before our first meeting.
Participants will need the book The Universal Christ by Richard Rohr (available at amazon.com @$14.99) and the Companion Guide for Groups available on the Center for Action and Contemplation Website ($5.00 - https://store.cac.org/collections/cac-published/products/companion-guide-for-groups-the-universal-christ)
Scholarships for books are available. Or let us know if you are ordering on your own. If you have any questions, please contact Jean Woessner, firstname.lastname@example.org.
